Depression and being cheered up

So you are having what you may call a depressive episode. You are not in a good way mentally. The people in your life try to cheer you up. If you are anything like me when I was struggling with depression, my thought is “please don’t”. Then I fake a smile and say something nice to show my appreciation. I appreciated the effort, but it was not helpful. Am I right?
The problem is that they don’t get it, and think you just feel a little bummed out or something. They know what will help them so they try to help you the way that would be helpful to them. They think doing something fun will help. Maybe some exercise will help. How about a nice massage? Right? All of this makes you feel as if you just don’t fit in. You feel different. You long to feel this way. You really wish that their ideas will make you feel better.
You can feel this way. It takes a little effort, but you can fit in. I did depression for nearly 40 years. I have an understanding of it. I understand me. I understand you. Help can be found here:
