Welcome to my brand-spanking-new venture!
For those of you who don’t know me. . .and some refreshers for those who do!. . .
I have been an academic advisor and career counselor at a large urban public university for over two decades. Right now I am preparing to move into a career consultant role within my unit, with an emphasis on career development programming for students pursuing business and nonprofit degrees. I will be working full time for the university for the foreseeable future. My changing role and my husband’s and my daughter’s departure for college will leave room for another endeavor. In the past, I frequently have been asked at church, in the supermarket, on the phone. . .
“do you see non-university clients?”
The time has come where I can start saying “yes” to that question!
One of my long term goals for the next decade is to build a private career coaching practice to serve individuals outside the university. I am currently enrolled in Coach Training Alliance’s certification program. With each passing week, I am more excited about the difference this collaborative, appreciative inquiry process can make for those who engage in it.
My mission for this new venture is to coach hose in educational or career transition to integrate their passions and skills for lifelong success.
Some examples:
a high school student (public, private or home school) who needs additional attention or information to make concrete decisions about their next step.
an early-to-midcareer adult considering a career change, a return to school, or just a different perspective on the workday
a retiree looking for meaningful activities that don’t feel like “work”
I offer prospective clients one introductory sample coaching session, no strings attached, free of charge. I will send some focusing questions to ponder beforehand and the client and I work through them together at the session. Simple, right? If the prospective client decides wishes to continue working with me we can discuss a short-term agreement for future meetings. These 30-to-60 minute sample sessions can take place in person (Indianapolis area), by phone, or via Skype.
